At Birmingham Physical Therapy our therapists are specifically trained in the assessment and treatment of runners and running related injuries. Our running program includes a full body physical fitness evaluation where we will look at your mobility, flexibility, strength, and stability to identify areas that maybe contributing to injury and/or lost performance. We will also perform a biomechanical gait analysis that includes slow motion video analysis to accurately determine your cadence, foot strike pattern, stride length and vertical travel, all of which can affect the ground reaction forces that are responsible for many running injuries. We will also evaluate your shoe to see if they are right for you. No one running style is right for everyone and it is determined by a thorough history of running problems/injuries, physical exam, body type, and training goals. For more information about our running program, see our Running Program Brochure or call the clinic at (205) 298-9101.
